We all have things we want to accomplish, an inner calling, a stirring that doesn’t go away. Or maybe we just want a little less drama and a little more peace.
Regardless of where we are at, there’s another place we are striving to be. It’s all a part of our beautiful evolution.
I can stand on a soap box and tell you how to think positively and change your thoughts and you’ll change your life, but at the end of the day I don’t own a soap box, and the course of your life is highly personal and one that reading inspirational quotes on refrigerator magnets won’t necessarily change.
Today, when you drove to work, or the grocery store, or to your dentist appointment, did you think about how to drive your car, or did you simply start it and take off?
At one point you did learn how to drive, unless you live in a major metropolis, which now you can probably take public transportation in your sleep.
If you were like me, you probably stressed over passing your driver’s education test – parallel parking with the driver’s ed teacher sitting next to you in the front seat is the worst!
But we passed our test and now scoot around town without even a second thought about how to drive.
Thank you subconscious mind.
There’s this amazing quality about your conscious mind. Once you train it enough, it tells your subconscious mind what to do, and BAM, you no longer have to think about how to drive a car anymore, or brush your teeth, or type, walk, or all the many things you know how to do without thinking – you just know.
Everything that’s in your subconscious mind was placed there by your conscious mind. You plant the seeds of your awareness.
When we sleep we give our conscious mind a much needed break. It turns off, disconnects and let’s our subconscious mind take over. Sometimes you may have foretelling dreams, or just plain weird dreams, but your conscious mind isn’t there to filter anything out, so your imagination can run wild.
So what does this have to do with 5 minutes?
Right before you go to sleep, those last conscious thoughts you think will be left there for you to marinade in all night. Think of it as your last deposit of the day. The last thoughts you send over to your subconscious programming center.
So if you’re stressed, worried, upset, angry, disappointed and then you go to sleep, these are the thoughts you’re sending to your subconscious mind, only this time it has a good 6 – 8 hours to really let them sink in.
I know you’ve heard the saying “don’t go to bed angry,” but let’s take it a step further.
If your conscious mind is all up to you, and your subconscious mind – the one that let’s you run on auto-pilot – takes direct orders from your conscious mind, why not take full advantage of the power you have?
Take those 5 minutes before you drift of to dreamland and think about what you want, what you’re grateful for, what and who you would love to have in your life, and the many things you would like to accomplish, and marinade in that all night long.
So don’t think about the money you don’t have, the love you don’t have or the job you don’t have, think about all the things you would really like to have in your life. It helps too, to think about all the many things you are already grateful for. Plant seeds of things you want to grow in your life.
Start tonight – train your subconscious mind to work for you, to help you accomplish your dreams and to get you living the life you truly desire. Your only limits are those you place on yourself.
Then those inspirational quotes on refrigerator magnets, coffee mugs and throw pillows will become affirmations to a life you’re already living.
