Mondays to me represent a fresh start. A reset on the week. Though many may argue that’s what Sundays are for, Sundays for me represent a day of introspection. Monday is the starting point of action.
Imagine Usain Bolt – the fastest man in the world – he lines up on the starting block then blasts off into his sprint. Sunday is the starting block, Monday is the first steps out of the gate. Monday is worth loving.
If you’re not pumped to start the week, it may be time to take a look at what you’ve got going on.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’ve got 4 kids, so the mornings for us – especially Monday morning during the school year – can totally feel like a drag if I let it. The rest of the weekdays for that matter too.
And sometimes it does. It’s dang hard sometimes. But getting stuck in the “another day another dollar” mentality can suck the life force out of you faster than a Tyson vacuum can suck up lint.
And perhaps that’s the most valuable thing to think about before you line up on the starting blocks of your week – do you want to run the race you’re in?
You know Mr. Bolt isn’t lining up on those blocks thinking maybe he will win the race. He’s already feeling that gold medal hanging from his neck before the gun is fired. He’s feeling the emotion of winning deep in his bones. He’s already won before he even starts.
There will always be reasons to not be happy, excited or gung-ho about life, but those reasons can’t be what we focus on most. If they are, that’s where we end up.
For most of us life comes naturally, so we tend to take it for granted. We wake up, get out of bed and go about doing what we do everyday.
We think all of this is just how it is and we forget how our thoughts create our reality. We forget that our emotions are magnetic, and life is drawn to us based on how we feel. Every last little detail of our outside world starts from inside of us. In a word, we forget how powerful we are.
So, on this Monday, I want to remind you of your power. Watch your thoughts, are they setting you up for what you want to experience or are they taking you down a path you don’t want to be on? Are you dreaming big giant dreams or playing it safe?
Unlike a race, your life isn’t on anyone’s timetable but your own. I often have to remind myself of this as I tend to slip into a state of hurry. Give yourself time. Cultivate what your soul craves by first tending to your soul.
Your dreams, goals, visions, wishes – all of it is on your timetable. Your soul has all the time in the world. It’s not a race at all. (Though it makes for a great metaphor.) Make sure you have fun. Enjoy it. Take fun breaks. Tap into your heart throughout the day. Listen to your intuition and be spontaneous. This is what your spirit craves.
Keep your eye on your finish line and start feeling right now how you want to feel when it’s finished. Staying true to this will keep you staying true to living your happily ever after right now in this very moment. After all, right now is all we really have anyway.
It’s all working out for you. Thank God for Mondays. 🙂
Lots of love,
